This week I had the pleasure of visiting the Florida Keys. We started out in Fort Meyers, spent the night there -had an absolute blast! The following morning we hit the ground running super early to take the Key West Express to the island. I thought I was in heaven when we pulled into the harbor - the water was amazing, the boats were huge, the houses were charming and there was shopping everywhere!
Whenever I visit somewhere I think about what it would be like to be a local and live where I'm vacationing, full time. To me it would be extremely difficult to live in such tight spaces (a huge house there is 1,500 sq feet) and most of the time there is no yard. Driving around by scooter might make up for this though... :-)
Then I thought back to Texas - closer to Dallas there are areas where you can purchase a huge home with a nice yard, the jobs are plentiful, tons of shopping - but the problem I kept coming back to was that all the houses are alike...
So to summarize - for us at least, Lake Texoma is the best place on earth - we can enjoy the vast open waters (and I won't have to worry about pirates or ending up in Cuba), shopping within driving distance, big backyard, larger homes, close to my office -- and the houses at the lake come in a variety of different types! Lake cottage, cedar homes near the water, new construction in town, the list goes on....
If you're thinking of making Lake Texoma your home - or your home-away-from-home visit my website which features Lake Texoma Real Estate in Pottsboro Texas.
